SOUTH FAYETTE WELCOMES BACK ALUMNI

The South Fayette Alumni Association welcomed all alumni back to school on August 23, for the 2008 Welcome Home Event during the Lion Pride Day celebration. The fun began at 4:30 p.m. with a private alumni reception at the high school as South Fayette graduates from 1934 to 2008 met with former classmates and teammates. It was an afternoon of memories as the graduates reminisced as they watched the “A Tribute to South Fayette” DVD which spans the decades from the first graduating class of 1929 through 2008. The walk down memory lane continued as alumni relived their South Fayette years through a collection of framed collages of the decades, posters of years of stage productions and a collection of the “Little Green Machine” band uniforms. The festivities continued as the graduates joined the Lion Pride Day activities at the stadium complex.  The alumni joined the parade led by the “Little Green Machine” and the 2008-2009 South Fayette sports teams and cheerleaders. A salute to all alumni assembled on the field by decades was highlighted with a special tribute to Marshall Mariani, quarterback of the 1933 South Fayette Football team and a 1934 graduate. South Fayette Cheerleaders Nicole Hennemuth and Alyssa Bazala escorted Mr. Mariani to mid field to a rousing ovation from everyone on the field and in the stands.

The South Fayette alumni association is looking for graduates to help with expanding the association and events throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering your time and ideas, please contact Maureen Pedzwater at 724-693-3047 or email at alumni@southfayette.org.
