Feasibility Study
Current Status of Future Construction to Accommodate Student Enrollment Growth
The Board of School Directors continues to discuss how to accommodate both current needs and future enrollment growth in the South Fayette School District. No decision has yet been made by the School Board. The agenda item below will continue to be on the School Board’s agenda each month as a decision must be made as to the direction the Board will take. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meetings which occur on the 3rd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Conference Center.
Discuss Board options for future construction to accommodate elementary school overcrowding along with dates required for decision making. Options include:
- Proceed with option to begin construction in summer of 2009 (decision to move in this direction would need to occur by August 2008). Occupancy would occur in the 2011-12 school year.
- Make the decision to proceed with construction planning with the intent to borrow for construction in March 2010 with occupancy 2013-14 school year.
- Make the decision to delay construction planning and utilize trailers for future growth. Consider options for placement of additional trailers.
- Consider other options not yet identified.

At each month’s regular Board meeting, a team from Eckles provides an update for the Board and the public on the status of their research. At this time, the community also has the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions about their findings.
